The problem

What this program is actually for

Practitioners are routinely told to demonstrate insight and provide evidence of remediation, and are almost never told what either word means in practice. The result is a reflective statement that describes the event, apologises, and promises to be more careful. That reads as compliance, not understanding, and it is the single most common weakness in a response.

What changes by the end: You will be able to write a reflective account that demonstrates understanding rather than describing events, distinguish a genuine practice change from a statement of intent, and evidence a change in a way that is specific and verifiable.

Eight hours of learning. Usually completed in a few sittings across a week.

Two things worth knowing before you buy on hours

  • Dental practitioners: ethics and professionalism generally falls in the non-scientific category, capped at 12 hours per three-year cycle.
  • Pharmacists: the Board counts credits, not hours, weighted by activity group and self-assessed by you. Do not read hours as credits.

Answers

Questions about this program

Is this enough on its own?
It depends on the concern. If the matter is about a clinical topic, pair it with the relevant topic program. If the matter is about conduct and you already understand the subject, this is often sufficient.
How is this different from the Notification Response program?
That one adds fitness to practise, the process itself, and rebuilding trust. This one is the reflective core only, at a lower price.
Can I use the reflection document in a portfolio?
You can retain it and use it as you see fit. Whether and how to present it in a live matter is a question for your indemnity insurer or lawyer.
Does this count as CPD?
It is an educational activity. Whether and how it is recorded is governed by your own Board's CPD standard. See the CPD reference below.
