The problem

What this program is actually for

Most practitioners address ethics and professionalism reactively, one topic at a time, usually after something has been raised. That is the most expensive and most stressful order to do it in. A structured annual pathway covers the same ground before it is needed, and produces a CPD record at the same time.

What changes by the end: You will have covered ethical reasoning, professionalism, boundaries, confidentiality, communication, documentation, probity and fitness to practise, with a certificate and reflection document for each.

Twenty hours of learning. Most practitioners spread it across a CPD year rather than completing it at once.

Signs this is the right program

  • You have no current concern and want a structured pathway for the year
  • You want ethics and professionalism covered properly rather than piecemeal
  • You are a practice owner setting a shared baseline across a team
  • You are returning to practice or new to the Australian system
Step one

Select your profession

Each version contains the courses written for that National Board's standards.

If a notification has been made about you, contact your indemnity insurer first. This is education. It supports your own reflection and gives you a dated record of learning completed. It does not satisfy, discharge or resolve any regulatory requirement, condition or undertaking, and no course can guarantee an outcome.

How these hours sit against each Board's requirement

No National Board pre-approves individual courses. You record the time you actually spend against your own requirement and keep the evidence.

ProfessionRegulatorIts CPD requirement
DoctorsMedical Board of Australia50 hours of CPD each year, through an AMC-accredited CPD home
Nurses and midwivesNursing and Midwifery Board of Australia20 hours of CPD each registration year, relevant to your context of practice
Dental practitionersDental Board of Australia60 hours of CPD over each three-year cycle, with a scientific/non-scientific split
PharmacistsPharmacy Board of Australia40 CPD credits each registration year, weighted by activity group
Allied health professionalsyour National Board or professional associationThere is no single allied health CPD requirement

Two things worth knowing before you buy on hours

  • Dental practitioners: ethics and professionalism generally falls in the non-scientific category, capped at 12 hours per three-year cycle.
  • Pharmacists: the Board counts credits, not hours, weighted by activity group and self-assessed by you. Do not read hours as credits.

Feedback on this program

Published by profession and state only. We do not publish names.

★★★★★

Did it across a year rather than at once. Sensible way to cover CPD I would otherwise put off.

General practitioner, NSW
★★★★★

Bought it for the unit. Having one shared standard across the team was the point.

Nurse unit manager, VIC
★★★★★

Good value compared with buying the courses one at a time.

Podiatrist, SA

Answers

Questions about this program

Do I have to do the courses in order?
No. All ten unlock immediately and you can take them in any order, at any pace, within your access period.
Is 20 hours my whole CPD year?
For some professions the number matches the annual minimum, but a CPD requirement is about relevance to your practice, not just hours. Most practitioners should mix this with clinical and practice-specific learning. See the CPD reference below.
Can I share it across a team?
Yes. Bulk allocations can be assigned to different people, and courses can be mixed across professions.
What if I only want some of the courses?
Buy them individually at A$99 each, or choose one of the five or six course programs above.
